HSE Product Bulletin - Phantom Vision Powered Respirator

The HSE Asbestos Licensing Unit have circulated the following information which all UKATA members should be aware of.

“Scott Safety, the manufacturers of the Phantom Vision Powered Respirator, have identified an issue with this product and released the attached product bulletin. ALU is forwarding the information to ALG members so that they can keep their members informed.

A small number of these masks have developed a crack in the exhale valve housing (illustrated in the bulletin). This mask type is commonly used in the licensed asbestos industry and this issue should be drawn to users attention and included as part of their normal pre-use checks.

If such a crack should be found in pre-use checks or other mask examination, the mask should be removed from use. Scott have arranged for a replacement component if they are returned to their service centres”.
