UKATA Director Chris Bishop to speak at Contamination EXPO 2017

UKATA to recognise importance of asbestos training at September event

The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA), is delighted to announce that UKATA Director and Chair of Membership, Chris Bishop, will be giving a keynote speech on safe asbestos removal at this year’s Contamination Expo Series. 2017 is the second year running that UKATA will attend the Expo, taking place from 27 – 28 September at London’s prestigious ExCeL. Information on tickets for the show can be found here: http://bit.ly/2w4eZQP

The Contamination Expo Series 2017 brings together the latest solutions, suppliers and experts in the field of contamination, and is set to be attended by over 3,000 contamination professionals, meaning the Expo is fantastic opportunity for UKATA to spread its message about the importance of receiving the relevant level of training in order to ensure safer work environments for all.

“Chris Bishop is sure to deliver a brilliant speech at the Contamination Expo this year, as he possesses the unique combination of management and training expertise; he has a wealth of hands on experience in UKAS laboratories; ISO systems auditing; and asbestos surveying, removal and land remediation,” said UKATA General Manager, Craig Evans. “Chris is heavily involved in remediation project management relating to asbestos in soils, making his seminar the perfect complement to information the UKATA staff present on our stand will be providing to delegates.”

The Contamination Expo Series also provides a fantastic opportunity to launch WYG as UKATA’s first approved Asbestos in Soils Awareness training provider.

“With asbestos still being the UK’s biggest workplace killer, it remains high priority to educate employers and employees on Asbestos in Soils Awareness as well as key asbestos regulations, and we are therefore delighted to have WYG on board and are excited to promote their collaboration with UKATA in September,” concluded Craig.

UKATA exists to set and verify standards and to emphasise the importance of best practice in training when it comes to the safe handling, removal and disposal of asbestos. Tasked by the HSE in 2008 for taking-on, managing and developing the list of training providers for licensed asbestos work in the UK, UKATA is now the leading authority in all levels of asbestos training in the UK.
