UKATA is pleased to announce their free upcoming webinar titled “Asbestos in Soils: An Asbestos Lexicon” from Director, Chris Bishop on Friday 22nd May 2026.

This webinar will explore the key regulations, legislation, and industry guidance relevant to working on potentially contaminated land, with a particular focus on the identification, management, and sampling of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). It will provide practical insight into best practice approaches and compliance requirements when undertaking soil investigations where asbestos may be present.

As a Chartered Chemist and Chartered Quality Practitioner, Chris Bishop has worked with UKATA since its inception and has spoken at many events on their behalf. He represents the association at the HSE-led Asbestos Network and Duty to Manage and Training subgroups.

For over 25 years, Chris has been working within the asbestos industry. Initially working within a highly regarded consultancy, he then worked for one of the largest asbestos removal companies in Britain. almost 20 years ago, he started his own asbestos consultancy and training company AT&C (Asbestos Training & Consultancy) Ltd which offers asbestos awareness, non-licensable and licensable asbestos training, the Duty to Manage, and asbestos surveyor training courses along with site support such as competency assessments and site audits. His company also works with clients in managing asbestos and provides consultancy support for remediation projects.

With increasing scrutiny on environmental safety and compliance, understanding how to effectively assess and manage asbestos in soils has never been more important. This session aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to approach such challenges responsibly and effectively.

The webinar forms part of UKATA’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness around asbestos risks worldwide and providing free, accessible education on critical issues facing the industry and beyond.

The webinar is free to attend, but registration is required.
