HSE Asbestos Network – Appendices & Technical Guidance

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Asbestos Network and its Technical Working Group provide a forum for industry representatives and regulators to discuss technical matters, share knowledge and promote consistent standards across the asbestos industry.

As part of this work, technical appendices and Asbestos Network memoranda are produced to provide further clarification and guidance on specific aspects of asbestos management and removal. These documents address matters arising from industry discussions and help communicate agreed interpretations, recommendations and good practice.

Although primarily aimed at Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractors (LARCs), much of the guidance is also relevant to other professionals involved in asbestos-related activities, including analysts, surveyors, consultants and training providers.

The documents should be read alongside relevant HSE publications, including L143, HSG247 and HSG248, and do not replace statutory requirements or official guidance.

These documents are also available through the Construction Industry Advisory Committee (CONIAC) website, which provides a central resource for industry guidance and information.
