The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) has announced that its sixth Annual General Meeting and Conference will literally be taking off this year, with a change of venue to the Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport, on Friday 4 July 2014.
The formal agenda, together with confirmation of this year’s keynote speakers will follow in the weeks ahead but UKATA is announcing the change of venue now to give people plenty of notice to book their place. If the last two conferences are anything to go by, the event will not disappoint, with the perfect mix of information, networking and educational processes all rolled into one.
“We have taken into account feedback from members and delegates last year and in the autumn regional meetings in deciding to move to East Midlands Airport,” said UKATA acting General Manager Craig Evans. “The Radisson Blu Hotel fits in with the travel arrangements of members, delegates and conference speakers alike, so we are hoping this event proves our best yet.”
Consistently growing in importance and popularity, the conference attracts the highest profile names from the asbestos industry and the world of health and safety to speak. The conference has also proved an excellent venue for members from throughout the country to network and share best practice and the change of venue is intended to facilitate this process further.
Leading lights from the HSE have lectured on topical issues at the last two conferences. Whilst the last speaker at any conference always has a hard job holding the interest of delegates, photographer and journalist Neil Hodge had no such problems last year. Neil held the 2013 conference spellbound with his presentation ‘Dust to Dust’ pulling no punches. His powerful images captured the lives of people with Mesothelioma, covering in horrific, harrowing detail their diagnosis, treatment, operations and their deaths.
“The UKATA AGM and Conference is now eagerly awaited not just by members but also industry watchers interested in being up to speed on the very latest on asbestos safety, standards and training,” added Craig. “Planning for 2014 is now well underway and we are looking forward to welcoming another bumper number of delegates to the keynote event in our promotional calendar so make a date in your diary!”
UKATA has over 160 fee paying Members with many more membership applications pending and is always keen to talk to prospective Members who are 100% committed to the highest professional standards.
