The Environmental Monitoring & Measurement Achievement Awards (the EMMAs) Expand to Include Geoenvironmental Sector, Calling for Nominations from Across Land Remediation Industry.
The Environmental Monitoring & Measurement Achievement Awards (the EMMAs) will return to Birmingham this year with an expanded scope, recognising excellence within the geoenvironmental and land remediation sector for the first time.
Taking place on Wednesday 16 September at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, the awards will be held on the first evening of Contamination & Land Remediation Expo (CLR Expo). The EMMAs will bring together leaders and innovators from across the environmental services sector to celebrate projects delivering measurable impact and recognise leaders advancing monitoring practices.
Following a record-breaking 2025 awards evening, the 2026 awards have evolved to better reflect the interconnected nature of environmental data, monitoring, and analysis. This year introduces new Land, Soil and Geoenvironmental Measurement categories, marking a significant milestone for professionals working in contaminated land, site investigation, and remediation.
The introduction of geoenvironmental categories highlights the essential contribution of the land remediation sector in addressing some of the UK’s most pressing environmental challenges. From brownfield redevelopment to sustainable site investigation, the sector plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and future-ready development.
The new categories will recognise organisations and projects demonstrating excellence in areas such as site investigation, geophysics, and innovative long-term monitoring - core themes aligned with CLR Expo and its audience of geoenvironmental engineers, environmental consultants, contractors, and regulatory professionals.
In addition to the new land-focused categories, the EMMAs will continue to celebrate achievements across water and wastewater monitoring, air, emissions and cross-media monitoring, as well as new joint categories recognising cross-sector collaboration and innovation.
Together, these categories reflect the full environmental lifecycle—from initial investigation and measurement through to monitoring, compliance, and control.
A Call for Nominations
Nominations are now open, with organisations across land remediation, contaminated land management, environmental monitoring, and related disciplines invited to submit entries. Entry is free.
With increasing demand for sustainable solutions across soil, groundwater, and hazardous materials management, the EMMAs provide a unique opportunity to showcase innovation, demonstrate impact, and gain recognition among a highly targeted audience of decision-makers and industry leaders.
As part of Environmental Services & Solutions Expo (ESS Expo), which brings together over 15,000 industry professionals over the course of two high-impact days at the NEC Birmingham, the awards provide a platform for organisations to gain recognition among a highly targeted audience spanning land, air, water, energy, resource management, and everything in between.
