Men’s Health Awareness Month: November

Each November, Men’s Health Awareness Month draws attention to the physical and mental health challenges affecting men across the UK. While issues like prostate and testicular cancer are often highlighted, there is growing recognition of the urgent need to address men’s mental health. Many men struggle in silence due to societal expectations or a lack of accessible support, especially in male-dominated industries like construction and asbestos.

During the month, individuals and organisations are encouraged to talk more openly about mental health by raising awareness of common issues such as stress and depression and promote early intervention. It's a time to challenge the outdated notion that men should "just get on with it" and instead create a culture where seeking help is seen as a strength.

Throughout November, Mates in Mind, a leading UK charity focused on improving mental wellbeing in high-risk industries, are offering practical resources and guidance to help employers start meaningful conversations and signpost support for those who may be struggling.

Mental health should be a priority every day of the year, but Men’s Health Awareness Month is a powerful opportunity to refocus efforts and drive change. To explore resources or learn how your organisation can get involved, visit matesinmind.org
