UKATA is proud to announce that is has been awarded the internationally recognised ISO 45001:2018 certification for occupational health and safety management systems.

This is an international standard for health and safety at work developed by national and international standards committees independent of government.

All organisations are responsible for ensuring that they minimise the risk of harm to the people that may be affected by its activities (e.g., its workers, its managers, contractors, or visitors), and particularly if they are engaged by the organisation to perform those activities as part of their “occupation”.

Covering the scope of the ‘verification and approval of training materials and tutor competencies in respect of health and safety and asbestos training and auditing of members in a variety of sectors within the UK’, Craig Evans, Chief Operating Officer developed a new ‘Occupational Health & Safety Management’ system which was implemented with the team.

The system is completely unique to UKATA and developed in-house to fit the needs of the business.

Following the Stage 2 audit, no minor or major non-conformities were found, and certification granted.

Upon receiving the certification, Craig said

“I am extremely proud that the whole team are behind this project, and worked collectively to support the health, safety, and wellbeing of all, as staff participation is key to this standard to proactively manage risk.

This recognition adds to our already gained ISO 9001 quality certification, providing assurance of both quality and safety in our services”.

The UKAS auditor commented:

The system is so well structured and thorough. A few highlights: Your internal audits are excellent, OH&S training is very extensive and management review meets all the requirements of the standard.”

Established in 2008, UKATA is a highly respected, leading authority on asbestos training. Its passion is to both maintain and improve asbestos training, ensuring the highest standards are upheld by means of continual quality assessment.
