UKATA, in collaboration with global safety leader 3M, is set to host a free and insightful webinar on Navigating Respiratory Protection Within the UK Asbestos Industry. The session will take place on Monday 15th September 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am, via Microsoft Teams and will feature guest speaker George Elliott, Northern Europe Region Application Engineering Supervisor at 3M.
This informative webinar will explore the key considerations around RPE for those working with or around asbestos. Attendees will benefit from practical guidance aligned with HSE requirements, ensuring compliance and improved workplace safety across the industry.

The session will cover a wide range of essential topics, including HSE guidelines for respiratory protection, the differences between licensed and unlicensed asbestos work, and best practice when selecting the right RPE. It will also address wearer considerations such as the importance of face fit testing, potential compatibility issues, and the impact of facial hair on RPE effectiveness.
The webinar has been developed in direct response to feedback from a recent UKATA questionnaire, which highlighted the industry’s need for further education and support around respiratory protection. This makes the event a must-attend for asbestos professionals looking to enhance their knowledge, ensure compliance, and adopt safer working practices.
UKATA’s Events & Marketing Coordinator, Kelly-Anne Smith, will be introducing the session, with expert insights delivered by 3M’s George Elliott.
Participation in the webinar is free of charge.
