UKATA was delighted to take part in the #MuffinsForMeso campaign on Wednesday 14 May to raise awareness and funds for Mesothelioma UK, a charity dedicated to supporting those affected by mesothelioma, a rare and aggressive cancer caused by asbestos exposure.
The campaign encourages businesses, community groups and individuals to host bake sales or simply enjoy some muffins while raising vital funds for those affected by mesothelioma. To show support, UKATA hosted a bake sale at the head office in Markham Vale. Staff rolled up their sleeves and baked an array of delicious treats, from Biscoff banana bread to cornflake tarts, tiffin and everything in between. The event was a huge success, bringing colleagues and neighbouring businesses together for a fantastic cause while indulging in homemade goodies. The wider UKATA community also got involved, with other members and companies taking part by hosting their own bake sales and contributing to the campaign. It was inspiring to see so many people come together in support of Mesothelioma UK’s vital work, which provides essential care, support and information to individuals and families affected by this devastating disease.

"It was fantastic to be part of #MuffinsForMeso," said UKATA’s Events and Marketing Manager, Victoria Castelluccio. "Not only did we get to enjoy some amazing cakes and delicious treats, but we also helped raise awareness and vital funds for such an important cause. It was a fun and meaningful way to show our support for Mesothelioma UK and the incredible work they do.
On behalf of UKATA, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the companies and individuals who took part by baking or donating, your support is truly appreciated. Together, we can continue raising awareness and supporting those affected by mesothelioma.”
Mesothelioma is an aggressive and incurable cancer that develops in the lining of the lungs, abdomen, or heart, often because of asbestos exposure. Many people diagnosed with mesothelioma were unknowingly exposed to asbestos in their workplaces decades ago, and the disease can take years to develop. Mesothelioma UK works to provide specialist support, campaign for better treatment and awareness, and ensure that those diagnosed receive the best possible care.
UKATA is incredibly proud to have played a small role in this mission, raising over £150 at the head office through the sale of delicious cakes and sweets lovingly homemade made by the UKATA staff. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps Mesothelioma UK continue its essential work.
