UKATA Webinar Explores the Role of the Female Analyst Working Group

On 27 February 2026, UKATA hosted a webinar titled “Raising Standards for All: The Work of the Female Analyst Working Group”, delivered by asbestos management specialist and Female Analyst Working Group member Joanna Parker.

Hosted by UKATA’s Events and Marketing and Communications Associate, Helen Warriner, the webinar focused on the work of the Female Analyst Working Group and the reasons behind its formation. The session addressed the challenges experienced by women working in site-based asbestos roles and examined how these issues have shaped wider conversations across the sector.

During the webinar, Joanna Parker explained how the Female Analyst Working Group was established following discussions at the 2021 FAAM Asbestos Conference. She outlined the group’s ongoing work to raise awareness of workplace issues, encourage constructive dialogue and support positive change within the industry. The session also considered how improved standards and more inclusive working practices benefit everyone operating within the asbestos sector.

Joanna discussed the progress achieved by the Female Analyst Working Group to date and highlighted areas where continued support and engagement are needed. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on their own roles and consider how organisations and individuals can contribute to creating safer and more professional site environments.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the asbestos industry, including 12 years specialising in asbestos management, Joanna brought a wealth of practical knowledge to the session. Her career has included roles in consultancy, training and development, auditing and providing asbestos management support across a range of sectors. She is a member of both the FAAM and NORAC committees and remains actively involved in the Female Analyst Working Group.

Helen Warriner commented:

“Joanna delivered an engaging and insightful webinar that clearly demonstrated the importance of the Female Analyst Working Group’s work. The session encouraged meaningful reflection on current practices and highlighted the role everyone can play in raising standards across the industry.”
