The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a product recall notice for the WOODEN QIYI Sand Activity Toy, which was sold via AliBaba, Amazon and TikTok.
The affected product is described as a sand tray toy designed to help children learn letters and numbers and was supplied in orange cardboard packaging.
According to the recall notice, the sand included within the set may contain a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance in the UK and can pose serious risks to health, even at low levels of exposure.
The product has been identified under product reference 1005008843242014-12000046913158791 and does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
As part of the corrective action, the product has been recalled from end users by AliBaba and TikTok. The listings have been removed by the online marketplaces (Alibaba, Amazon, TikTok). The product has been withdrawn from the market by Montessori Toys (Mknar Ltd).
Consumers who own the product are advised to stop using it immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
