UKATA’s Craig Evans Shortlisted for Two Leadership Awards

UKATA is thrilled to announce that Chief Operating Officer, Craig Evans has been shortlisted for two categories at the Business Desk East Midlands Leadership Awards: Company Leader (up to 50 employees) and Public and Third Sector Leader.

Craig’s nomination reflects the progress UKATA has made under his direction. Since taking on the COO role in 2018, he has helped reshape the organisation’s structure and strengthen the way it supports its members. His leadership has encouraged innovation in training delivery and improved UKATA’s ability to respond to the changing needs of industry and the public sector. Through this work, the association has become increasingly recognised as a trusted authority on asbestos training and awareness.

Much of Craig’s influence comes from his commitment to partnership working. He has built strong relationships with regulators, trade bodies and charities, opening new opportunities for collaboration and shared learning. This approach has raised the profile of asbestos safety and created a more unified voice around the need for high-quality training and improved public protection.

Beyond UKATA, Craig continues to contribute to national and international efforts to address asbestos-related risks. As a Trustee of Mesothelioma UK, he supports initiatives that improve support for patients and families. His involvement with the Global Asbestos Forum Foundation’s Scientific and Advisory Board enables him to share UK expertise on a worldwide stage, helping advance discussions on safe practice and long-term policy.

The UKATA Board of Directors and team have expressed their pride in Craig’s achievements and the recognition his leadership has received. His shortlisting reflects not only his personal commitment but also the dedication of the staff, tutors, members and associates who support UKATA’s mission.

Craig Evans shared his appreciation for the recognition, saying:
“I’m very grateful to be shortlisted for these awards and to receive this recognition. Leadership is never about one individual, and this nomination reflects the commitment and professionalism of the UKATA team, as well as the trust placed in us by our members and partners. I’m proud to lead such a dedicated organisation, and our focus remains on raising standards across the industry and supporting high-quality training that helps keep people safe.”

The UKATA Board and team are thrilled to celebrate Craig’s well-deserved nomination and encourage members, partners and stakeholders to wish him every success at the awards ceremony on 19 March 2026. For more information and to purchase tickets, Click Here: TheBusinessDesk.com's Leadership Awards
